Compared to other books this is a good book.  Compared to other business manuals this is a great book.

In an industry that is trying to produce many identical products, a rigid repetitive system enforced by hierarchy makes some sense.  The goal of software, however, is to build dynamic products that cater to variable customers in a quickly evolving market.  As such, structure can be a curse.

McCord allots her prescriptions (treat people like adults, engage in healthy debate, understand the future, ...)  along with many valid examples from her career.
