Things To Make and Do in the Fourth Dimension by Matt Parker
6.5 out of 10
I'm a fan of Matt Parker's YouTube channel (standupmaths) and his appearances on Numberphile. In some instances, the book gives better insights and allows for a better pace of contemplation. Other times, the videos do a better job.
The 4th dimension is not the main focus of the book. Starting with subjects such as simple geometric crafts and fundamental number theorems--ending with topics like unintuitive higher-dimensional shapes and ridiculous numbers. I'm glad I kept reading because the 2nd half of the book is superior. His main point that recreational math(s) have provided an "unreasonable effectiveness" in application, is definitely valid.
