Harford is spectacularly good at what he does.

Analysing and interpreting data is a precarious task.  But it can be an extremely valuable way to paint a fuller picture of topics that would otherwise remain mysterious or unknown.

This book is also titled "The Data Detective".  It gives great examples of how statistics in the news are often misreported or misinterpreted and how to avoid common pitfalls.
