Sea People by Christina Thompson

The populating of Polynesia was an impressive feat of human ingenuity and perseverance.  Hawaii, Easter Island, New Zealand, and many other Pacific archipelagos are dauntingly difficult to reach.  Because migration is extremely common and natural, asking why it happened is less mysterious than who, when, and how.  Historians, archaeologists, geologists, climatologists, geneticists, linguists, and anthropologists have attempted to tackle the questions.  Some theories have been debunked, and the overall evidence suggests a quick blitz of genetically similar people, but many answers remain out of reach.
