For millennia, governments have had an interest in suppressing any speech that could possibly be seditious libel.  Without the threat of severe punishment, censorship is likely to result in the Streisand Effect where the hidden or removed information becomes more attractive and shared.  It appears as though the internet has issued in a Pandora's box of media liberty.

For the record: There is an inherent irony in accusing your political enemies of being misinformed.  Mchangama is free to assert his view.
