If Nietzsche Were a Norwhal by Justin Gregg
7.5 out of 10What cognitive traits separate humans from the rest of the animal kingdom? For thousands of years, philosophers have had many thoughts on the issue: [the ability to ask "Why?"], [fiction creation], [remembering facts unrelated to experience], [causal inference], [linguistic accumen], [numerical skills], [intentional dishonesty], [concept of other minds], [understanding time and the inevitability of death], [moral dilemmas], and [self-awareness], amongst other ideas. Modern scientists have observed and tested some form of these behaviors in some animals, but many unanswered questions keep the practice mostly philosophical.
While interesting, this book did not live up to its potential. The author spends a lot of text preaching clichés about the biases and destructive downfalls of human intelligence.
