Columbus had been home to dozens of defunct franchises--from NFL to Professional Slow Pitch Softball. And when an expansion hockey team from a fledgling minor league came to play in an old barn where other tenants got priority, most folks in town were apathetic. But the Chill used bold marketing tactics and created an entertaining product. Proving that hockey could work in this cow town, David Paitson was part of an effort to build an arena downtown for a new NHL team and turn Columbus into a major league city.
