7 out of 10American War hawks push for a war with Great Britain to end impressment and possibly annex Canada. The British, busy fighting Napoleon's army in Europe, first appear to be easily beatable. Battles are waged in Indiana Territory, Detroit, Mackinac Island between Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, what would become Illinois, Niagara, along the St. Lawrence River, Boston Harbor, near the Canary Islands, off the coast of Brazil, Lake Erie, Lake Ontario, York (Toronto), Lake Champlain, Buffalo, along the Hudson River, the Chesapeake Bay (including Washington DC and Baltimore), Mississippi Territory, Spanish West Florida and New Orleans. Putting an end to "Mr. Madison's War", peace is negotiated in the Treaty of Ghent establishing a return to status ante bellum.
