Killing the Witches by Bill O'Reilly & Martin Dugard
7 out of 10

Crazy.  Dozens of people were executed for practicing witchcraft in New England during the late 1600s.  The first half of this book tells the gripping tale of the 20 Salem residents (mostly good proper citizens) accused, tried, and convicted in 1692.  The remainder of the book talks a lot about the birth of the United States (esp. Ben Franklin who was a boy in Boston a few decades after the madness in Salem).  The US Constitution was cautiously written to avoid state-sponsored religion--knowing that such power could be used to kill innocent people in an attempt to suppress the Devil.  There are also several chapters dedicated to the true events in 1949 that inspired "The Exorcist".  Crazy.
