After On by Rob Reid
7.5 out of 10

I don't consider myself qualified to evaluate science fiction novels, but there are many good things I can say about this book.  The narrative flows like an interwoven black-mirror-ish episode about the ugliness of seductively invasive technology in the near future.  The virtue of polite refinement has already been rejected by much of Silicon Valley--as made apparent by the author's crass contemporary self-aware tone--and Reid presumes that it will remain that way.  It is impressive that big ideas around psychology, technology, warfare, romance, biology, consciousness, cosmology, and cultural existentialism are addressed in an interesting and creative manner.
